An Improved Housemaid’s Mat and Bucket Carrier.

On November 30, 1895, Frances Theodora Evans, a Gentlewoman of Hereford, patented an improved housemaid’s mat mounted on castors so the user could slide across the floor while scrubbing without having to stand up. The invention also included an optional detachable platform for carrying a bucket, effectively forming a small movable cleaning trolley.
