An Improved Sanitary Skirt Protector.

On April 6, 1901, Lady Elizabeth Cumming of Westminster, London, patented an improved sanitary skirt protector. It paired a washable apron with a smaller macintosh apron that could be buttoned into place - or concealed in a pocket - offering discreet protection during menstruation.
