On May 27, 1913, Beulah Louise Henry of Charlotte, North Carolina, received a patent for an improved bag with a covering that could be easily changed to match clothing of different colors. Additionally, the bag was designed to facilitate the quick retrieval of commonly used items in everyday situations.
