Garment Waistband.

On July 11, 1944, Ava Jane E. Key of Hempstead, New York, obtained a patent for a novel garment waistband. Featuring firm front panels and wide, fan-shaped elastic sections at the back, her design kept garments securely fitted while allowing free movement.
