On December 28, 1916, Yvonne Colin of Paris received a patent for a new method of making artificial flowers and fashion ornaments. Her design used a fabric base covered with trimmed wool or silk fibers and then color-sprayed, creating fur-like petals that could be assembled with a natural appearance.
