On December 17, 1927, Odette Brenner of Paris patented a method for vitrifying paper to increase its strength and translucency. Her process allowed two treated sheets to be bonded together, creating artistic applications such as landscapes, floral designs, and ornamental motifs for use in home décor and other decorative objects.
