On November 27, 1934, Linda C. Bruhn of Auburndale, Wisconsin, patented a method for producing small cheddar cheese loaves that resist molding and rind formation without sterilization. Her process sealed each loaf with a heat-formed butterfat coating and foil layer, preserving the cheese’s natural aging qualities while ensuring stability during storage and transport.
