On October 14th, 1937, Anastasia Iordanidou, married woman of Athens, developed a novel laundry liquid called “ASTIRI.” Her invention combined potash, bleach, and a root extract to create an effective soap solution for whitening clothes, later bottled and sealed with perfumed olive oil to preserve its strength.
